It is a Lifestyle, Not a Diet!

Alright, alright! You probably have seen me say this a million times in other blog posts, but that’s because I feel this is CRAZY important to remember. I am going to keep on saying it until it is stuck in your head and why I decided have a whole post designated just on this!

So one more time so those in the back can hear me… THIS IS A LIFESTYLE, NOT A DIET!!!

Well now that we have established that, the next big question you have is probably why does she feel this is just so important? Like anything you are trying to accomplish you are probably looking for it to be a long term goal, or maybe a short term goal to help you get to the long term goal you want to achieve. When it comes to healthy eating people often say, “Did you hear about Keto, Paleo, etc?” or “Did you see Karen did this diet and lost 20 pounds?!”. Yeah, me too…

The reality is it is not about what diet (which I definitely do not agree with some of the diets out there) they did to achieve weight loss, get better sleep or more energy, it is what they do next that is important. Do they slide back into their old eating habits or continue better eating habits? And lets get one thing straight. Diets where you are only eating 500 calories all day and are starving yourself is not healthy…so please do not do those. Meal prepping and planning is an amazing habit to get into! On Sundays, I will plan our meals for that week so that I know what I need to put on my grocery list. This is also a great money saver so you are not just aimlessly spending money on food and then it sits in your fridge and goes bad before you use it. I am also spending some time making grab and go meals for us so we are not tempted to buy anything from a fast food restaurant. You want to set yourself up for success and these are some great places to start.

My biggest tip is to ditch the hamburger helper and get all the whole foods! You would be surprised how much your body can do if you just get rid of the processed foods and switched to eating whole foods. Here is the thing…that right there is what you need to do to implement big changes in your eating regime! Eat clean organic whole foods and your body will thank you and work toward balancing itself back out. It knows how to utilize real food, it does not know how to use “franken” food (aka –> processed junk).

How can you expect your body to last for a long and enjoyable lifetime if you don’t put the proper building blocks in there?

Just know when you start your health journey that you need to continue to keep doing those healthy practices because otherwise everything you just worked for will slip away from you and you will be back to square one.
